Saur Sujala Yojana: Get Solar Pumps for Just ₹15,000 with Government Subsidy

The Chhattisgarh government is running the Saur Sujala Yojana to provide farmers with affordable and sustainable irrigation facilities. Under this scheme, farmers receive solar irrigation pumps at heavily subsidised rates, which helps reduce farming costs and provides relief from electricity bills. The best part is that farmers can install a solar pump worth lakhs of rupees by paying just ₹15,000 as their contribution.

This scheme proves beneficial for farmers whose fields lack electricity connections or have limited irrigation facilities.

Real Success Story: Farmer Domar Sahu Benefits from the Scheme

Domar Sahu, a farmer from village Mokhla in Rajnandgaon development block of Chhattisgarh, has already benefited from this scheme. The CREDA department installed a solar pump in his field.

Domar Sahu shared that earlier, farming was difficult due to lack of irrigation facilities, and taking a second crop seemed impossible. Under the scheme, he received a subsidy of ₹2.73 lakh, while he only had to deposit ₹15,000.

He explained that if he had taken an agricultural connection from the electricity department, he would have needed 9 to 10 electricity poles to bring the line to his field. This would have taken months and involved heavy expenses. But after getting the solar pump, irrigation has become easy and the hassle of electricity bills has ended.

What is the Saur Sujala Yojana

Saur Sujala Yojana is an ambitious project of the Chhattisgarh government, operated by the Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA). Its objective is to provide farmers with solar energy-based irrigation facilities so they can irrigate without worrying about power cuts or diesel expenses.

Who Can Benefit from This Scheme

Permanent residents of Chhattisgarh who are farmers can benefit from this scheme. The applicant must own agricultural land. Priority is given to farmers whose fields lack electricity connections and have limited irrigation means.

Under this scheme, priority is given to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and small and marginal farmers.

How Much Subsidy Do Farmers Get

Under the scheme, the government provides solar pumps with 3 HP and 5 HP capacity to farmers. General category farmers also receive substantial subsidies, while Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe farmers get even more concessions.

In many cases, farmers only need to contribute ₹15,000 to ₹25,000, with the government bearing the rest of the cost.
