What is PM Surya Ghar Yojana?

Who can apply for the scheme?

How to apply for PM Surya Ghar Yojana online

- Complete OTP verification: Verify the mobile number and create your account.
- Fill in the rooftop solar form: Add roof details, the planned system size and bank account information.
- Wait for DISCOM approval: The electricity company checks the connection, roof details and technical feasibility. This may take around 3 to 15 working days, depending on the area.
- Choose an approved vendor: After approval, select a vendor listed on the portal. Do not sign an installation agreement before DISCOM approval, as this can create problems with the subsidy claim.
- Install the solar system: The vendor must install an eligible system using approved equipment and follow the required technical standards.
- Apply for net metering: Submit the installation details on the portal and apply for a net meter. This step should be completed within the required time after installation.
- Complete inspection and commissioning: The DISCOM inspects the system, installs the net meter and issues the commissioning certificate.
- Receive the subsidy: After the bank details and cancelled cheque are accepted, the subsidy is transferred through DBT. The transfer may take about 30 days after the required approvals.

- Use solar modules and equipment that meet the scheme’s approved standards.
- Only eligible CAPEX systems, where the household owns the system, qualify for this subsidy. RESCO and PPA models may not qualify under the stated rules.
- Net metering is a key part of the grid-connected process. A delay in this application can delay commissioning and subsidy payment.
- Check the vendor’s price, warranty, service terms and installation scope before signing any agreement.
