Maharajganj: The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana has crossed its annual installation target in Maharajganj district. A total of 4,037 rooftop solar plants have been installed so far, against the yearly target of 3,604 installations for the financial year 2026-27.
The progress was reviewed at a meeting held at the collectorate auditorium. District Magistrate Gaurav Singh Sogarwal chaired the meeting. Officials from the electricity department, banks and solar vendor agencies attended the review.
District crosses its yearly solar target
The district had a target of 3,604 solar installations for the year. It has already completed 4,037 installations. This means the district has achieved more than its planned yearly figure.
Between April and August, the monthly target was 1,500 installations. Against this figure, officials completed 1,832 installations. The month-wise figures show steady growth:
- April: 298 installations
- May: 318 installations
- June: 358 installations
- July: 420 installations
- August: 438 installations
- Up to September 15: 250 installations
By September, the cumulative target stood at 3,755 installations. The district had completed 4,037 by that point. The figures show strong demand for rooftop solar systems among households in the district.
What the review meeting focused on
The meeting covered several parts of the scheme. These included solar installation work, bank loans, net metering, vendor concerns and inspections by the electricity department.
The District Magistrate asked all departments to work together so that applicants do not face delays. He said that people should not face avoidable problems during loan approval, net metering or the inspection of their solar systems.
For a rooftop solar system to work under the scheme, several steps may need to be completed. The applicant must select an approved vendor, arrange finance if required, get the system installed and complete the required inspection. 758 bank loan cases are still pending
The review found that 758 bank loan cases were pending for disbursement. The District Magistrate directed bank officials to complete the required formalities and release the loans without delay.
Officials were also asked to ensure that applicants complete payments such as margin money where needed. Faster action on these cases can help more households complete their solar installations.
89 solar plants await inspection
The electricity department has not yet inspected 89 installed solar plants. The pending cases are spread across four areas:
- Maharajganj division: 41 cases
- Nautanwa: 24 cases
- Nichlaul: 21 cases
- Anandnagar: 3 cases
The department has been told to clear these cases at the earliest. Inspection is an important step because it helps officials check the installation and complete the next stage of the process.
Vendor data must be updated on the portal
Details of 336 installations completed by vendors were still waiting to be uploaded to the official portal. The administration asked vendors to update the records as a priority.
Accurate portal data helps track applications, installations, inspections and other pending work. It also gives officials a clearer view of where delays are taking place. The administration directed officials to address vendor problems and keep the work moving.
